Soft Tissue Massage and Myofacial Release

Coast Physical Therapy utilizes a variety of medical massage modalities administered by our Licensed Massage Therapists. Myofascial Therapy targets the muscle and fascial systems, promotes flexibility and mobility of the body's connective tissues. Soft Tissue Techniques apply firm direct pressure to relax hypertonic muscles and stretch tight fascial structures. Sustained Pressure Techniques alleviate tight areas within muscle and fascia. Trigger Point Techniques address Myofascial Trigger points.

Massage therapy may part of your treatment to optimize your results by improving Range of Motion and flexibility, relieving pain and spasms, and breaking down scar tissue and adhesions.

    Lymphatic Drainage/Lymphedema Therapy

Our Certified Lymphatic Drainage Therapists treat all types of edema. Lymphedema, also known as lymphatic obstruction, is a condition of localized fluid retention and tissue swelling caused by a compromised lymphatic system, which normally returns interstitial fluid to the thoracic duct, then the bloodstream. The condition can be inherited, caused by a birth defect, cancer treatments, or parasitic infections. Though incurable and progressive, a number of treatments can ameliorate symptoms.

Our Licensed Massaged Therapists are trained and certified to provide Manual Lymphatic Drainage(MLD). MLD is a technique for the treatment of lyphedema. MLD is a type of gentle, light-touch, noninvasive massage which is intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart.

Techniques and Therapies commonly used for lymphedema include, but are not limited to:

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage
  • Lymphatic Drainage Pump
  • Stretching and Exercise

PHYSIOMED DEEP OSCILLATION® with HIVAMAT® 200 is a unique, patented treatment method. It creates biologically effective oscillations (gentle vibrations) in the treated tissue using electrostatic attraction and friction. In contrast to other therapies, these pleasant oscillations have a gentle and deep-acting effect on all tissue components (skin, connective tissue, muscles, blood and lymph vessels). Hivamat is a non-invasive, non-traumatic and highly effective treatment.

Coast Physical Therapy uses Hivamat to effectively treat:
